What everyone else publishes
The size weighted industry figure is a ratio of sums, so it is set by the largest balance sheets: a few dozen institutions decide it for four thousand. It is a real number and it is the wrong one to plan against, which is the whole point of this page.
The typical bank
The middle bank, unweighted, with the tenth and ninetieth percentiles either side. Half the industry sits below the median figure, which is a fact the size weighted number cannot tell you.
The industry is not one thing
The same metric, by segment. Every segment shows its size weighted figure and its median together, with the number of banks behind each. A segment with fewer than 5 banks for this metric is marked suppressed rather than shown thin.
Where, and only then
Geography is a lens on the same numbers, not a separate product. Both maps are drawn on one shared scale: the size-weighted figure on the left, the median beside it, because a heatmap cell is a figure and no figure on this page appears without its counterpart. A segment under the floor is shaded as suppressed, never as zero, never left blank.
